A public discussion occured the 31st March on clubhouse about males cheating in relationships. Speakers such as writer Eric Kellum and rapper Osiris Williams chimed in.

Eric Kellum, author of ‘sexual healing: a man’s sexual journey and the lessons learned along the way‘, admits to having cheated on his wife.

‘I cheated on my wife in 2008… from me cheating, it gave me a realistic reflection on what lead to that point… I don’t think all men have to cheat but I think it’s hard for men to not cheat because of society’

‘When you’re cheating you have to live a double life… when she exposed me she had 100,000 questions… Unfortunately women get this inspector gadget gene…’ He wrote a ten page letter of his cheating experience from the time he got married in 1999 to 2009 when he got caught cheating’ says Eric.

Eric revealed that men often confuse intimacy with sex ‘I wasn’t looking for sex, I was looking to fill a void.’

The debate of all men cheating was linked to the idea of soul ties. Soul ties are spiritual or emotional attachments often formed in sexual intercourse.Singer, Osiris Williams, insinuated that women aren’t ok with cheating because in his only females get soul ties. The common myth that women are the only ones that get emotional was addressed. In his own words, women when catching their partners in the act of cheating are ‘busting your tyres.’

Ray Crenshaw, previously poyogamous before meeting his wife, responded to Osiris by reminding him that men are also emotional otherwise there wouldn’t be domestic violence. According to National statistics ‘The proportion of females experiencing domestic abuse in 2019/20 was 7.3%, double that of males (3.6%).’

Antoine Taylor, founder of Matrix QB Training, questioned the topic of discussion ‘are we really thinking about what causes people to cheat?’ He swiftly offered reasons of cheating such as postpartum depression which causes some to not want to have sex. Taylor explained that needs being unmet had lead to cheating in relationship.

Joey Beanz, grammar and billboard award winner shared his wisdom on cheating in relationships.

‘Cheating starts with thought… don’t put it all on men… all men don’t cheat’
‘If you’re not dispersing yourself with that person...it’s cheating… we do things because it starts with a thought and an action’

From this clubhouse debate it can be understood that not all men cheat but there are some especially in the industry (music/media) that may be more susceptible.
