Africans in Ukraine- it's time to get the message out -that there are people in the 21st century, struggling to cross borders because their skin colour happens to not be white.

I talked to Janine Anthony and Jewel Addy who work on the media team for Black Foreigners in Ukraine.

Jewel said: "We were told that it was women and children first, then men, then whoever was leftover...Black people."

The duo explained that there is a great need for helping those that are in the midst of war; social media is the main tool to help these foreigners.

Janine explained that Telegram, an app similar to WhatsApp, is popular in Eastern- Europe and so they have used the app to help get the students to borders points.

Besides informational support, Black Foreigners in Ukraine supports those displaced in the war with medical care.

I, Deb Daniel, will be posting regularly on the #AfricansinUkraine topic and will share more of the discussion I have had with Jewel and Janine in future posts.

Whilst you are supporting Ukraine, consider also supporting organisations that seek to help those that are forgotten about, like Black Foreigners in the Ukraine.
